For fairies, I'd add WICKED LOVELY by Melissa Marr (I'm more partial to it than Holly Black's book), and WAR FOR THE OAKS by Emma Bull, which is CLASSIC.

I couldn't really connect to Melissa Marr, but I know she has a ton of fans. War for the Oaks is on my wishlist. Interesting how it was only published in the late 80s and is already considered a classic. I guess that shows what a young genre urban fantasy is!

When you read WAR FOR THE OAKS, you're going to be surprised just how much the current trend of "Buffy-Lit" owes to that book. It's really, really surprising.
