I could not get past the first part of the book. It bored me to tears! And then I found out what happened to Lisbeth later and was very, very glad I didn't read it.
That said, I've watched the entire trilogy on film (the Swedish versions, obviously) and enjoyed them immensely.
I've heard good things about the Sweedish films. I think it would be interesting to compare the American viewpoint to the Sweedish one, so I know I'm planning on watching both versions of the first book at least.
I'm definitely looking forward to the comparison. I know that based on the trailer, I'm startled by how some of the shots seem similar, but considering Fincher's doing the American remake, I know nothing's sloppy. Everything's supposed to be intentional, I think. :)
That said, I had similar comparisons to the original and American versions of Let the Right One In.
