THE MAKE BELIEVE ROAD TRIP
or, why it's nice to have friends
Shutthedoor11:let's take a road trip with all of our friends
theskirt11: we will sleep on the sides of roads and rivers in the van with the back doors open.
Shutthedoor11: yeah
Shutthedoor11: listen to crickets
Shutthedoor11: and just feel the warmth of the night air
theskirt11: we will always take the long scenic route
theskirt11: and take pictures next to historic landmarks
Shutthedoor11: yeah
theskirt11: like you riding a bull statue, looking afraid
Shutthedoor11: and non historic landmarks
Shutthedoor11: like random lumberjack statues in small towns
theskirt11: and well hang our feet out of the windows when we drive and only eat at diners with nice names
Shutthedoor11: yeah
theskirt11: like "cherry capital diner" or "home of the largest tin lunchbox collection in the nation"
Shutthedoor11: or "heather james palace"
theskirt11: and we will listen to ccr and everyone will drive with their shirt off
Shutthedoor11: and we will some how get dirt tans
theskirt11: and stop at rummage sales and swap meets and use the public restrooms to wash up
theskirt11: flip flop tans
Shutthedoor11: ill act like i know how to tune up the car
Shutthedoor11: and get oil all over my hands
Shutthedoor11: and have a t-shirt in my back pocket
theskirt11: i'll act like i can read the map and get us lost so we have to sleep in the van with back doors open for an extra night
theskirt11: and for pillows we will stuff a tshirt with other clothes
theskirt11: but we wont need sheets
Shutthedoor11: nope cause its warm
theskirt11: we wont even have to talk very much
Shutthedoor11: yeah we need a van
theskirt11: we will get our snacks from roadside produce markets
Shutthedoor11: lots of pens and paper too
Shutthedoor11: only scrap paper
theskirt11: there is a van here for $250
theskirt11: but i don't know if it will get us to new york
Shutthedoor11: who cares
Shutthedoor11: we will take it as far as we can get it and then ditch it
theskirt11: and hop trains back
Shutthedoor11: yeah
Shutthedoor11: we just need 250 now
theskirt11: or hitch hike with old women who will tell us about their days of hitch hiking, trying to get to berkeley in 1967

theskirt11: i have like 30 bucks
Shutthedoor11: we all can get the rest at the end of may
theskirt11: the van will be gold too

Shutthedoor11: if you can get it up here

Shutthedoor11: then my friend raburn can look at it for us and make sure its running ok

theskirt11: my dad is a mechanic, he will make sure it gets to portland
