Ok, so I admit, I've been pretty lax on the updates lately. I'd like to spin some wild tale about how I've been too busy, or how I've had some sort of massive computer meltdown...but let's be honest here.
I suck.
Or I'm lazy. Anyway, big big things have happened lately. 1. I graduated from college. After 12 years. Long story short, I now hold a Bachelor of Science in Secondary Mathematics Education. That's a cool deal. Now I just need the $75 to pay for my certificate..(I've completed all the requirements for it, I just have to pay for it.) and I'm certified to teach math between grades 6 and 12 in the state of Florida.
What a time for the county I live in to go into a hiring freeze with regards to new teacher contracts, eh? I /think/ that they would've at least notified the unacceptable candidates, so I'm likely going to be offered a contract when the freeze is over...(It should end in June. As I tell my father, State and Federal Law mandates certain class sizes. Despite the district closing 3 elementary and 1 middle school, there is still strong possibilities of having open positions in the fall. Not all of those teachers are going to be able to fill the gaps in the district.) I'm not going to put all my eggs in one basket as far as Pinellas County goes...I am looking at other districts in FL and other states as well. NC, SC, GA, AL, and MS are all definite possibilities. NJ too. :P I really plan to focus on places that offer reciprocity with FL teaching certs. (So I don't have to refullfill a whole new set of requirements.)
By the way, I love my laptop. I'm currently lying in bed while typing this. Not sick, it's just late and I'm about to hit the sack. Have to substitute tomorrow for the class I interned in during the final semester of my college career. I think some of the kids wonder what I'm doing or where I'm going. I know some of them want me to teach at their school next year. I've even had several ask that I teach the grade that they're going into!
Other than that things are going alright. Still looking for gainful summer employment, so I can bring in some money to pay bills while I'm not in school or at work. But I tell you, the thought of doing nothing for three months after two years of school...>.> It's tempting. Maybe I can convince Ainyan to get a second job. XD No, no, she'd kill me, and besides, she's done enough supporting of us over the past two years.
By the way, I thought I should mention that my wife is FREAKING AWESOME. She's been so supportive for the past two years as I went to school, even being the primary bread-winner for us since I lost my job at Lenscrapters. All that I've accomplished, I owe to her.
So that's it for now. I hope to start updating regularly.
