Yes it is.
Now, I know that in previous posts I've been on the fence about this one, but when it comes down to it, the primary audience for Doctor Who is and always has been... children. That's who it's for. That's who it was for in 1963, and that's who it's for in 2011, albeit for almost completely opposing reasons. As I've said before, Moffat's vision of Who is indeed the closest the show's been to being a full blown children's show for quite some time: that's the thinking behind the token monsters in every episode instead of something more interesting, that's the thinking behind the cringeworthy pratfalling Doctor, that's the thinking behind the increasingly simplistic plots. Doctor Who is for children, like it or not- for more evidence, see the fact that Totally Doctor Who fundementally worked as a programme, while Doctor Who Confidential is just awful.
And now that's out of the way, perhaps you can be bothered to read the rest of my original post, where you can see that none of this has anything to do with the point I was trying to make.
