In Defense of Teen Wolf: Showing Up 20-Something David Boreanaz

Fans of genre shows have, I think, been primed to expect mediocrity edging towards downright cardboard acting in the shows we love. Say what you will about The Sentinel, Sliders, or especially Smallville, but they all lowered the bar for the kind of television we watch religiously and with little discrimination for the quality of the work. TW was like TVD for me--something I checked out for kicks, and then fell madly in love with thanks to the awesome ladiez, paired with pretteh half-nekkid snarky boys. I am SO HAPPY it got renewed!

Woo! I didn't know it got renewed, that's great. I'm really excited that the ladies get even more awesome than the promise they show now!

Oh, hey--since I haven't watched it all the way through yet, would you perhaps be willing to read through a short story I wrote crossing TW with Supernatural? Just as a "this fucks with canon" kind of way, though any input would be welcome.

I don't actually watch SPN, so I don't think I'd be particularly useful?

Teen Wolf is great, and it really grows in the back half of the first season, much like the Vampire Diaries. I know you haven't watched the entire season yet, but a lot of the things you were talking about that elevate Teen Wolf as part of the teen drama genre - the emotional arcs, the character development (especially of sidekick and female characters) - you'll see a lot more of that as you get further in.

I hope people give it a chance and the fandom grows. There are no wolves playing basketball, I promise!

I'm with you. I would also like to see the Boreanaz scale promulgated more widely.
