[What is he doing here? He doesn't even know. There's a lot of adults here... he never went to anything like this when he was in Ivalice. Leading a clan didn't really leave that much time for things like this. Maybe they had them at the Palace? They definitely didn't have anything like this in St. Ivalice. He's never even been to a school dance before.
Still, he's here, no longer stuck as a moogle, but instead in a kind of comfortable outfit, though he could do without the black mask. He's hanging out near the entrance to the garden, watching the ballroom through the window/door/whatever.]
[She's there, dressed in a simple, yet still elaborate dress, which matches the ornatemask she's carrying in hand. She came alone, mostly because she was used to these sorts of things -- balls and masquerades were quite common for the nobility of Dalmasca, and Ashe felt comfortable here, among the richness and fine fabrics. Something catches her eye, though, and she turns, spotting Marche through the window, and raises her hand slightly in a wave.]
[Nino isn't sure why she went to the ball herself. The thought of seeing friends there was the only thing that had gotten her through the doors. She looks awkward in her green dress and matching mask, and feels that way too. She really doesn't think she should even be wearing that dress.
Thankfully, she soon spots someone who looks like Marche and hurries over to him.]
I-... [Double take. She reeeaaaally looks surprised now, maybe blushing a little too. Pauses for a moment before laughing nervously.] I wouldn't... Princesses can do so many things I can't. I'm nothing like a princess.
I see! I wonder if that means there's more than one of other places... There's more than one Template!
But... All I did was watch Mother do it! I memorized the incantations she used. I didn't really study the spells like I should have. [Perhaps trying just a tad bit too hard to convince Marche.]

Marche! Is that you?
Reply
Nino! Yeah, it's me. How are you?
[He notices what she's wearing and blushes a little.]
You look nice...
Reply
I'm all right. How about you?
[Looks even more uncomfortable now.]
I do? I don't like this dress very much... It's like something a princess should wear, not someone like me.

I'm okay. A little uncomfortable in this outfit.
... [ :< ] But you do look nice. And you'd make a nice princess.
[Wait what? Serious blushing now.]

[Short laugh.] So am I!

... I'm sure you can do lots of things. You're smart and you're nice and you're a great friend!

[Really blushes now.] I'm really no-... That's awfully nice of you, but...
Do you really think so? I'm not very smart at all and...

I think you're really smart! You can do magic!

[Puts aside that thought for now.]
You're still smart! You have to be to use magic! I can't use it... and even when I was in Ivalice, I wasn't very good at it at all.

[Smiles a little.] Um... I'm not sure about that, but... All right. Thank you.
Oh, I'm sure you could learn to use it well!

Thanks, Nino.
Um... [Awkward.] Do you... maybe wanna dance?
Reply
[She quickly gets awkward again though.] Um...! I don't know how to dance. Do you?
