Most people would assume on a night such as this that the elements would be expressing the final outcome of the oncoming battle. After all, everyone knew nature was a fan of irony like that. And yet, it couldn't be calmer. The wind scarcely made its presence known, but just enough to give that pre-winter chill that always plagued the month of November. No sounds, no lights, no anything. Just pure perfected silence.
Even a heartless Contractor could find a bit of solitude in it.
Well, to an extent.
A brief mental sigh before leaning back, easily placing the white mask with a diagonal scar in its place. The defining mark of the cursed Contractor known only as the Black Reaper. The very same one Wei seemed so obsessed with defeating. Probably because he was the only person to defeat him.
Somewhere in the back of his mind as he stood steadfast was a halfhearted thought - a reminder that in the chance both of them lived through this to tell Wei obsession wasn't healthy.
