Finally got myself some extension cords and lights, so I can use my new work bench and tools.
Rough sketch on a piece of oak (1/4" x 1.5" x 12")
Roughed out, with a slight change to the initial tip angle.
A bit more refined, with edge bevels ground in. I REALLY need to practice these, as they're pretty uneven. Perhaps I should build a jig or something.
They don't look too bad in this light, but...
Another error on my part. I forgot to get some wood glue.
Yet another area I need practice. The pin holes aren't set well. Will make them more even on the next one. Handle scales are poplar, and the pins are just sections of pine dowel.
Still got a ways to go to finish this up. And a long way to go to get ready to transition to steel. Fun so far, though. Looking forward to getting started on the real thing.
