Mika's patron and Sil, are planning a whole solo album for her.
Gavin gets call from Finn Maxwell asking to meet. They agree to meet at bar of Gavin’s choosing at 7pm. At the bar, Finn Maxwell is out of uniform to met up with Gavin, and he asked for help off the books. A certain VIP needs an escort out of country, as his since his escort is busy elsewhere.
Finn is hesitant to ask as there may be a Ghost or two dispatched after the VIP. Upon seeing a picture of person in need of escort, going by name of Louis Armstrong, Gavin realizes he has seen him on the trid before he got overthrown. Former High Prince Lugh Surehand.
Gavin and Finn discuss how to get "Louis” in touch with his bodyguard. Finn offers 5K per team member. Gavin sends message to Mika, Lindir and Persephone. They all agree to meet in the back room at the bar where Lindir works, the Sparkle Star.
Gavin gives them the run down, on either escorting someone in or out of country. They agree to smuggle the bodyguard into the country.
While Gavin goes to let Finn know they are on, Lindir calls a smuggler friend, Gecko, who agrees to help if needed. Finn sends web addresses to have text file left for each contact. Mika hacks in and leaves messages for both parties.
Twenty minutes later, they get a reply from the bodyguard saying, "Greatly appreciated. When?" They agree to meet north of the border, along the river. Lindir arranges for Gecko to get them to Longview, Salish-Shidhe.
Persephone decides to get new roller derby gear for her team to place in a large box, which they plan to use to hide the bodyguard. Lindir gets Sil to sponsor Persephone’s derby team, and pay for the new gear.
The next day, they all meet up at Gecko’s boat and head up the Columbia River to the met in Longview.
As they start up, posing as a pleasure cruise, with the girls in bikinis, they notice they are being monitored by a drone. Its Matrix registration lists it as owned by Bob Dowd, an investigative reporter friend of Gavin’s.
Gavin calls up Bob, and they discuss the drone. Being a little short on cash, he is trying to catch some celebrity photos. He asks if Persephone could rub more oil on Mika. And possibly kiss. Gavin says no to the kiss but yes to the more oil. In return, Gavin has Bob scout up ahead.
Persephone and Mika comply with the oil. Bob tells Gavin there is a Border Patrol cutter up ahead with a boat pulled over. They go by unmolested.
On the S-S side of the river, in Longview, the Dockmaster asks for IDs and papers. Gavin asks him for directions a local dive shop. Mika, Lindir, and Persephone go to place order their order for the custom-printed derby gear, then go get food.
Longview citizens watch the group as they meander around town and sit to eat. While they wait for the food, a beat-up car with fresh bullet holes pulls up, and a large elf climbs out. He sits down and introduces himself as Hawkeye. The group introduce themselves to him and explains the plan to him.
After eating, they get a doggie bag and head to the print shop. Gavin convinces the owner to hang out in his office while Mika hacks into the security system to disrupt any CCTV footage. They pack Hawkeye and the derby gear into the large box. They then realize that they need a U-Haul to bring the gear to the dock.
Gavin hires a truck, everyone helps in loading the crate in, and once at the dock, there is a winch to help lower the crate into the boat. Gavin goes online and rents a truck to transport after getting into Salem.
They make it most of the way back to Portland when the cutter they saw earlier and flashes their lights at them. Their boat is boarded, searched, and they are asked for ID and receipt for the derby gear. All seems good until they are asked why there is a heat signature in the box. Lindir states the gear is fresh out of the printers, so still a bit hot. The guard buys it and sends them on their way.
A few hours later, they get to Salem safe and sound. Gavin gets the truck, they load the crate up, and as soon as they are able to, they open the crate up and let Hawkeye out.
They plan the next stage as to where to go. East towards Pueblo seems like the best bet. Louis arranges to meet them at Joe’s Bar and Grill.
Once they show up another delivery van is parked outside. They drive by and circle back. The van is fitted with tinted windows. Mika slips into the Matrix to look at the van’s transponder. She pings it and looks again to see if there is a second one.
This one is a decoy, and the one not actively pinging is running a government number. They discuss strategy, and wonder if Lindir can disguise Hawkeye. Lindir states he can make Hawkeye look like a drag queen. Instead, he turns Hawkeye into a ork that can pass as human.
They park a block down and walk down to the bar. Lindir notices there are a lot of undercover police cars. Hawkeye calls his contacts with the Ancients go-gang.
They get into Joe's Bar and Grill, order Cajun fries, and wait for the Ancients to come. Gavin sees Louis and casually point him out. Lindir and Persephone recognize him. Persephone astrally perceives that Louis glows like gold. She tries, but cannot tell if anyone else is a cop.
Lindir and Louis go to bathroom to disguise the former Prince as Hawkeye’s bimbo ork girlfriend. Gavin, Mika and Persephone hear motorcycles getting closer and spot a man in a grey Members Only jacket entering. Gavin notices weapon bulges under the jacket. Astrally, Persephone sees three mages come in through the wall.
When Louis walks out with Hawkeye and Lindir, she notices Louis' aura has changed to normal. Mika and Lindir head to the van. Mika sends a message to Gavin and worries when she receives nothing in reply. As Lindir and Mika head to the van, Lindir notices there is a SWAT team getting ready to advance.
Back in the bar, Hawkeye tells Gavin and Persephone things are going to get loud and he and Louis will take care of the three mages if Gavin and Persephone can take care of the guy at the door. They agree. Persephone sees Louis and Hawkeye astrally project. She is in awe!
As Hawkeye and Louis start kicking butt, Persephone casts mob mind, hits the whole bar, and tells the guy at the door to close his eyes and count to 100. Gavin heads to the door, Hawkeye and Louis get back into their bodies, and they exit the building, as the Ancients appear.
An advancing SWAT officer attacks Persephone with a stun baton, and she is knocked unconscious. Gavin sees Persephone fall and grabs her up in a fireman carry. The cop tries to lunge at Gavin but gets Hawkeye’s arm around his throat. Louis and Gavin carry Persephone to van.
As the Ancients start lobbing tear gas canisters, gunfire starts. Hawkeye comes sprinting up with a stolen gun and stun baton. Gavin drives away. Mika uses a medkit for Persephone’s burns from the stun gun while Lindir works on patching up Hawkeye.
Gavin drives as subtly as possible. Mika and Gavin feel a thunk on the van as they drive. Mika reaches out with her Matrix perception to see what it may be, but cannot tell what it is. She guesses its a tracking device. Lindir MacGuyvers a long spatula and knocks off the tracking device.
Twenty minutes later, Persephone wakes up very sore. Lindir gives Louis a makeup removal cloth and he starts to clean up. Mika looks online into seeing if there is an APB out on the group. There isn’t anything mentioning them specifically, but there is an APB for a pair of orks.
Gavin notices a drone following them. Mika tries to take it down. On her third try the drone dataspikes Mika back. Mika tries for the fourth time and no luck. She takes another mental hit.
Persephone casts ice spear and the drone dodges. Lindir shoots at the drone and grazes it. Lindir shoots and hits again. Gavin does evasive driving and succeeds.
Persephone tries to summon an air spirit and no success. Mika tries to hack the drone again, gets in and spikes it. In response, the drone fires a laser. The beam burns a hole through the roof and ignites 1/3 of the derby gear.
Lindir shoots and hits but no damage. Persephone tries to summon air sprit again and passes out. Hawkeye attempts to summon a spirit. No luck. Gavin increases speed and dodges. Lindir shoots and misses. Louis summons a thunderbird. It swoops down on the drone and smashes it to pieces.
