Scary Religious People
Dear All,
I know I was going to finish my update, but this was just a little too out there not to respond to. Please read this LA times article. Now I have a really important question, "Why are people trying to end the world?" I mean if a huge rock was flying at the Earth we would try to stop it. If a massive plauge broke out we would be worried and try to stop it (avian bird flu????). If a huge war (China V Russia size) broke out there would be a major effor to push for peace. But what scares the hell (odd diction I know) out of me is that what these people are trying to do would drawf all other events we can think of, minus a few major civilization ending events (massive nuclear war and a big space rock). But most of those are beyond our control. And the ones we can control we are actively trying to avoid. So I repeat my question, why are people trying to end the world?
Now I am all about people having the freedom to believe what they want to believe. I fully support freedom of religion so long as you are not hurting yourself or others, or forcing your ideas on other, go on enjoy your religion. Hey I will drop a few bucks in your collection pot. But this bringing about the end of times, (to me) would be hurting a whole lot of people. Imagine all the Islamic people in the world (assuming the Christians are right) that would suddenly no longer exist, or rather exist in hell for the rest of eternity. And if you thought that was ok, I mean they chose the wrong God and all, now imagine if Islam is right. So now all the Christians are in hell for eternity. Do not forget that people like me, not officially part of any religion, are just SOL either way. Question, what happens to Buddhists and such. I mean are they just passed over? Not likely I would think but I really don't know. I would assume they would get treated just like me. So just a small portion of the world's population would be left either way.

I really can not understand this at all. A religionis supposed to help people right (at least that is what I remember being told in high school by everyone). So why are they now trying to do something that would put the death count from all the wars in human history to shame? Could someone please tell me?
