Hate it when I'm right

Dear all,

Ok so everyone remember the whole semi-assault incident from a few months back? Well one of the things I told my principal and staff was that I was afraid the kids in question would go after 1st years and harm them. This group of first years is kinda short and not very intimidating so I was worried. Well things settled down after that and those kids (apparently) fell in line. Well not so much as it turns out.

I left early Friday from work. We were doing our standard friday night madness, plus one of my teachers was coming to join us. So I missed the whole thing at school. This is all second hand info from the teachers that were here and the school handouts. (always mark your sources right??)

So on Friday after I took off one of the kids, armed with a airgun/ spring gun (katakana is not my friend), started shooting at kids. He shot 5-9 kids (I have found different numbers but they are all under 10) and most of them were hurt but nothing serious. Bruises, bumps, that kind of thing. Apparently this was covered on a local news website and even a newspaper (not sure about the newspaper but I think so). Now after living in the states I would think that, you know after this thing enough is enough right? You throw the kid out of school and let him deal with his own issues. Make his fooks drive to hell and back to get him into a different school. But this is Japan. They had a meeting in the gym with kids this morning. And that was it. No seriously, that was it. Afterwords the principal wouldn't think about it any more. As would the rest of the office staff. The kid in question is here at school today! As far as I know there has been no action taken against him. In Japan I would think that the law is actually on his side, too. The papers can't show his name. But the camera crew from a TV station can be here to film for a day. Now tell me how that helps anyone. No people to help the kids with trauma. No day off to think. Just a meeting and then back to work like normal. Some parents were calling in to excuse their kids from school, but not as many as you would think. Most classes are still full with only a few missing students. I have the distinct feeling that I should have stayed in bed today. Yeah definitely have that feeling.
