Not that I'm generally one to be the optimist -- but that whole bit with Donna's farewell MUST have signalled something ahead between the Doctor and Martha. It must have. Mustn't it? (Why do I get the feeling I've been here before?)
Yeah--I think I'm as grumpy as I am because in S3 I would have thought, 'That has to mean something.' (They're not going to let that whole "he doesn't see me" thing stand. It's too obvious!) Now I am perfectly capable of believing that yes, they *are* just that tone-deaf in Cardiff. Until proven otherwise, which I hope will happen.
Yeah. Like when you fancy someone and he doesn't even know you're there. What an odd thing to say -- it must be going somewhere. I remember being utterly certain. Oh, the ranvils. How they hurt.
Agh, I keep trying to block that line out of my consciousness. Because I can't *believe* RTD wrote that line and thought it was a good idea to have the Doctor say such a thing after Martha had been so upfront about her feelings for him, without the line's having any other significance. That's not just absentminded or oblivious; it's *mean*.
man, I hope you're right. I would like to think that, with evil clones and the opportunity for themes of identity & recognition ahead, something good and meaningful might be coming... but at this point I reckon I'm better off not hoping, hurts less that way & all.
