In the bookstore today (not my local independent, thank goodness; a B&N I took shelter in while I waited out a rain burst), I saw a No Fear Shakespeare edition of Much Ado About Nothing on display as a movie "tie-in" with the Whedon film. I fantasized briefly about going up to the counter and declaring that edition to be rubbish - I'm sure that they had other editions for sale that could just as easily have gone on display - but I couldn't foresee any way that this could have good results. Instead, because I am a masochist, I opened the book to a random page to see what awkward and unfelicitous "translations" I could inflict upon myself this time.
Thus it was that I learned that "The world must be peopled" means "The world needs to be populated." As always, I am glad that No Fear Shakespeare is there to crack these terrible riddles for me.
