I got a remaindered hardback of Daisy Hay's Young Romantics today for $4.99, aw yeah. I had it out from the library a few months ago, but only read the first forty pages or so before I had to return it. So now I will...promptly go back to not reading it yet, I guess. But I'll know that at any moment, I *could*.

strange eventful history, bookery, 19th-c stuff

Oh, I've seen that! Different Romantics, though; the book I just bought is about the Romantic poets, whereas the miniseries is about the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. I remember thinking that the title was a bit confusing... I thought Lizzie Siddal was great, though.

Speaking of, though, another book I read the first chapter of and continue to look at longingly in bookstores is Effie, a biography of John Ruskin's wife (played by Zoe Tapper in the miniseries), who went on to marry Millais. (I'm pretty sure the reason I saw the miniseries was that Samuel Barnett was playing Millais, now that I think on it.) The paperback edition says there's a movie in the works, so I feel like I ought to hurry up and read it before then!

I read that one! It was good. Sad, of course, but good.

Yeah...the Romantics are not known for their happy life stories, alas. I'm looking forward to reading it, some time in the future.
