People on the Street

We've all seen them. They come in many different shapes and sizes and colours. Some of them you see every day, some of them you'll never see again. Most of them aren't so unusual as to elicit commentary, but today I came across not one but two extremely striking people on the street.

The first was a man with the largest moustache I have ever personally laid eyes on. It extended well past his cheeks and was visible in silhouette as we walked towards each other. His moustache was accompanied by a sizable but relatively unimpressive beard. Assuming it was real (which appeared to be the case), I suspect he may never have shaved in his life; he seemed almost too young to have so much facial hair. I believe I have ridden bicycles with smaller handlebars!

The second was a woman, the sight of whom actually stopped me in my tracks. She had a strong resemblance to two people I used to know and care about, both of whom were also quite attractive, and seemed to combine the best parts of both. To say the result was successful would be, I think, the largest understatement I have made, year-to-date. The combination of her pure beauty and the resonance with people I miss left me feeling... odd. Division by cucumber odd, and it's going to take some effort to keep that from interfering with my previously established plans for the evening.
