I love studying Arabic with Khaled. He's such a great teacher, and it's so nice that he enjoys teaching me, too.
Khaled is a friend I met through the Palestine Solidarity Committee last semester. A couple weeks ago, I asked if we could meet so he could answer a few of my questions. After several failed attempts--he didn't show up once, then neither of us showed up twice--we sat down at Kismet last Sunday to have a meal and talk, and we talked in Arabic for an hour.
He transformed from my friend to my teacher so quickly. "Wait, what is the pronoun for 'they'? Say it again. And again. We have to master this before you go."
So now every Tuesday and Thursday we meet and discuss Arabic. With this kind of help maybe I'll be conversational before the end of the summer! Yay! (And I never use that word)
Also, my paleontology project is going great. I'm halfway through picking the fossils for the project and it's looking like it will be an interesting study. Woot! (another word I never use)
Mmmmmmm. Life is good.
