I had a slashbash but I ated it ... O.O
Such fun having fannish people over :-) Klo and I ran around madly tidying and cooking and shopping until the tables groaned, the fridge was so full we left the soft drinks in the boot of the car -- and then found them, guiltily, when we went to go shopping for more food ... (we had to get the bread fresh, right? And the pizza. And obviously the guacamole... er ... )
There was in fact, ridiculous amounts of food, but also ridiculous fen, which evens out quite amazingly :-) And there have been cookies and muffins for breakfast and elevenses. Mmmm.
ngaio's post about Earth hour inspired Klo and I to put out candles ... thousands of candles... (well, okay, maybe forty or so, really -- finally I get to reap the benefits of the tealights incident in Ikea *g*). We had sort of planned to not say anything and wait to see if anyone noticed when we turned all the power off, but as it happened the subject came up, and we had to reveal the cunning plan *g* Klo's laptop went onto battery power and we didn't turn off the router, but everything else did, even the bathroom being candlelit for the occasion. And, since we'd been talking about the problems it causes the grid when everyone switches everything back on again, (alsopossiblybecauseweforgot*koff*) we kept to candlelight for the rest of the evening :-)
It was huge fun, these things always are, and full of absurd conversations and sensible conversations and laughs and puns and lolcatspeak *g* (Mandragora unwisely mentioned she had to buy a bucket -- the subsequent conversation is best imagined *g*) which segued onto talking to complaints departments in lolcat (I can has internetz naow?). My lovely book of nude of the French rugby team (& friends *g*) got hauled out :-)
Oh, and there was the whole thing about the ninja kittens, who were misheard as ninjas who could transform into kitchens...
And now Klo and I will start trying to eat the leftovers ... O.O
