SGA: Adrift

SGA did make me very happy. Lots of McKay and Sheppard interacting, and in the version *without* music those long end-of-scene dramatic glares and moments really do look a *lot* more gay than they do when accompanied with music, which, you know, I'd've thought would be the other way around.

I found Carter less troublesome than I expected -- I'm hoping that the difference will be that the writers are actually paying attention. Of course, these are the SGA writers with the attention span of a senile gnat so I'm not exactly holding my breath. However, I sort of get the impression that Dr. Lee, poor bastard, is taking Rodney's place as Sam Carter's fall guy. Fortunately, I already thought Bill Lee was a bit of a tit, and if this means that Sam isn't going to be one-upping Rodney the whole damn time, I can totally live with it. It would be nice if the writers could come up with a dynamic that didn't require Sam to continually show someone else up, but I'll take what I can get.

Back when we were watching the, er, other versions, Claire phoned me and shrieked. Eventually coherency emerged, mostly of the '26 minutes and 45 seconds! 26 minutes and 45 seconds' variety. Which I watched, and then there was quite a lot of undignified and not exactly verbal noises *g*

What I loved about how they did it particularly, was that it was clearly *not* the first time he'd called him John, just the first time onscreen. I could wish it had been reserved for a moment of high drama, but really, I prefer this way. Somehow, it felt almost domestic. Or that could just be me :-)

Keller I really liked. She *is* young for the job, but I particularly liked that suddenly there is an entire competent medical staff instead of super!doc with silent gurney pushers. I'm curious about Mckay's attitude to her, which was rather more avuncular than I'd been expecting. He wasn't half as rude to her as he could have been. I wonder if that's a little bleedover from Kaylee (and from the writers of DH?) or is it Rodney treating her like a cross between Carson and a little sister who looks up to him in a way that Jeannie doesn't? Keller needs to develop more, she's still something of a cypher, but not bad so far. And, er, yeah. That would be some Kaylee bleeedover of my own *g*

It's shaping up to be a good autumn, you know? Touch wood.

Edited because I hit post and didn't quite mean to cuz there was more stuff I wanted to say!
