Whining First:
It was a nap day on account of Lily-the-obnoxious, whose voicebox I would liked to remove with a rusty spoon. Or kick her in the head. That was what I was thinking when she interrupted my nap to bark. The voicebox, while I was still lucid last night, was due to her barking till midnight and my host family being disinclined to shut her up. It's not that hard - if I can do it without wounding her, and I can, so can they. She also started again at 6:45 this morning because she was hungry. And sure, I had to get up anyway to go to school for orientation, but not that early. Especially not after being up that late. Was starting to get very fuzzy around the edges by the time I got home.
So I took a nap. On my nice hot carpet, to begin with, until I was awakened by the drool on my pajama pants pillow. And then I moved to the bed after yelling at Lily who was barking again. Where I couldn't sleep due to intermittent barking on the part of Azuki and Lily because Shizuka wasn't sharing her food. But I did sort of drowse, and that seems to have been good enough.
Consequently epically failed at rice pudding due to after-nap ravening hunger. It does not work to put rice and milk and honey and spices and chopped-up dried cherries in a bowl and microwave it, no it does not. It tastes okay, but it overflows and also the rice is still in its own little grains, sigh. However, now have sufficient calories to survive until more food makes an appearance.
On the Fabulous Side:
Snooooooooow! Snoooooooooooow! Snoooooooooooooooow! Which was lovely for this morning, very happy. Kahlua milkshakes with my friends. Registering for classes, yos. Which is another little story. Meeting newbies! They are all lost and it is cute. I am a senpai now! I have kouhai! *feels very masterful of Nagoya and Nanzan now* I met some nice ones, Colin and Tori. Colin is from Atlanta and goes to school in Tennessee and was also pleased about the snow.
Little story of classes
Now I am signed up for Japanese Literature IV (which is a continuation of past years, I suppose, and I am finally good enough at Japanese to take it), tea ceremony, Cultural History of Tea Ceremony (signed up for tea ceremony itself on a whim, mostly, and so that I have something to back me up if I can't stand one of my classes), and Intermediate Translation. Also Japanese, of course, and to my great delight the professors have carried over. Sucks to be 500, of course.
Am currently not entirely lucid. Will return tomorrow with greater, er, clarity. Hopefully.
