Some Harry Potter, Hikaru no Go and Megaten

Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix: Luna made the whole movie for me. Besides that, I liked it and probably I’ll watch it again someday. Certain things bothered me a lot, but I can live with them. But Luna, oh god, I love her so much. ♥

Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Fortunately, Persona3 will be released in English a few days afterwards and I can’t get the book until a week later, so this is going to be perfect to maintain me distracted from the internet (except for MSN, because I trust everyone there). Also I have to finish with springkink, so I can’t just disappear. But I’ll avoid everything else until I can read the book myself.

Hikaru no Go: There is a… certain secret at fandomsecrets which accused the fandom as being elitist towards newcomers and having BNFs. Well-known writers on the fandom rant about it on their personal journals. In my personal opinion, there are kind of BNFs in this fandom. I think some of the well-known writers indeed live in their own inner-circle and don't want to give a chance outside it, which isn’t bad in itself.

Honestly, I can’t find this fandom to be as small as everyone else thinks it is, but that is just my personal opinion. I can easily say there are tons of really good writers in this fandom, and aishuu… I can think of many, many more she didn't mention and that aren't even half of the fandom. She only mentioned a very small part, like a very close friend of mine (ungalad) pointed out for me. New people can feel a tiny bit overwhelming and kind of intimidated because the most active people in fandom are everywhere (which isn’t bad at all, don’t get me wrong).

The most well-known writers know each other, but the main community has more than 500 members. That isn’t small at all, and yeah, it is small if you compare it to Harry Potter or Naruto for instance, but this is how it is for tons of anime/manga fandoms. It bothers me a little when I see those claims, because honestly, Megaten fandom IS small (it doesn’t even get separated communities for each game for a reason and the main community of fanworks has around only 70-80 people joined, I can name all the people who wrote/write in that fandom because there aren’t more, dixit), Hikaru no Go has tons of doujinshis scanlations, all the canon was scanlated/fansubed, has communities, maybe not a lot, yeah, and the real active people in fandom is less compared to other fandoms, but it isn’t small.

My point is: claiming a fandom as being small and that everyone knows each other bothers me, because it isn’t true. Because like me, there are tons of writers who aren’t know at all and this is like leaving them out of their own fandom. That isn’t fair and it sound kind of elitist for me, I’m sorry.

ungalad wrote a very good post about all of this and I agree completely with her. Go read it if you want. ♥

Shin Megami Tensei Online Imagine: Online RPG of Megaten. In Japanese, but my brother found an English guild and OMG, it’s totally GREAT and AMAZING. I love the graphics and it works kind of like Flyff. If I kind of disappear from the MSN, you will know why now. 8D

Screencaps I stole from my brother (anacallama):

general: online games, videogames: shin megami tensei imagine, general: mangas, general: movies, general: videogames, rants: fandom, books: harry potter
