skylarks is a cutie so I'm putting her here. This was when we were on our way to visit this really adorable and amazing antiques store (Uncommon Objects). So, so cute! Real vintage postcards, antiques, animal skulls, butterfly specimen, assorted collections of miscellaneous objects, and enough relics from the turn of the century to satisfy three generations past. I took a heap of pictures when I was inside, but I forgot to put the flash on, so none of them turned out and the photo center didn't even bother trying to develop them. Booooooooo.
Texas basically looks like Texas, you guys. People wearing cowboy boots without a trace of irony, cacti on windowsills, vast expanses of desert terrain, rust-colored buildings. There are even hoedowns! except Tammy basically forbade us from going to any of them, so obviously there are 'real Texan experiences' I'm still missing. Whatever. I got to eat Tex-Mex and
Chi'lantro, so I'm fairly certain I filled my quota.
And now, Providence!
This is Westminster Street. I usually frequent this area when I'm running errands to CVS, the bank, arts/crafts boutiques, galleries, or local cafes/eateries. My new favorite Providence gem is
Farmstead Downcity, which is a gourmet eatery that serves the most orgasmic cheese-and-meat sandwiches in existence (
prolixius, please attest to this). While you wait for your order, they encourage you to sample their cheeses on display, which range from brie to tarentaise to raclette de savoie to 'ewephoric'. It's pretty rad.
This is the canal that separates Downtown Providence from College Hill. It's small but it's actually really lovely on beautiful days. Every fall, Providence celebrates WaterFire, where they light torches on the canal and send gondolas across the water and hold street festivals for everyone.
Antiques! This place is never open but they always have the coolest shit in their window displays.
Eventually I'll get to putting up pictures of my actual campus(es) and my friends. I hope all of you are well!
