They ended up laying on the floor side by side, chest heaving from the vigorous fighting, but when they become silent and the breathing from each other was the only sounds that echoed in the genkan, they inwardly smiled at the friendship and tranquility they were in, wishing that this could last forever.
Yamapi couldn’t control his happiness the next day, it’s been a long time since he was in a real relationship with anyone, and he’s never been so sure of himself about this. He loved Ryo so much in so many ways he could not even express, he flipped open his phone and browsed through his pictures till he saw the one Jin took for him and Ryo on their amusement park date. Ryo was smiling so brightly with all his teeth and eyes slit like. To Yamapi, Ryo was so sparkly, so blinding like the sun, and yet he was so subtle and clear like the moon. Ryo’s cuteness and his shyness, his flustering and silly excuses, his teases and those times he tried to act tough were all the precious elements of Ryo Yamapi loved so dearly.
Yamapi was too focused on the picture he didn’t realize someone else had entered the room and was looking at him giddily smiling down at his phone.
“What makes you so happy today?” Koyama asks. It’s been a long time since he’s seen Yamapi so jolly as well, not to mention how troubled Yamapi had been in the months before.
Yamapi immediately shuts his phone and looks up at Koyama, Koyama has been worrying about him for some time now since Yamapi was always moody and strained, previously he had also consulted Koyama on this matter, although not directly, but he felt obliged to tell Koyama about this since the problem was now solved. That said, Jin had reminded Pi on how his career would be at stake if any of this was discovered by the media, especially since Ryo was not one used to dealing with the public, putting him in the spotlight was going to create great pressure for Ryo. As much as Pi wanted to share his new found happiness with his true friend, he had no choice but to keep silent about it.
“Hey Koyama, are you here for recording too?” Pi quickly changed the subject.
Koyama was not one that liked to pry, he was almost sure he saw Yamapi smiling at a picture before he fumbled and closed his phone. But if Yamapi was not ready to tell him, he wasn’t intending to force his friend.
Koyama smiled and patted Yamapi’s shoulder. “I’m glad things finally seem to be working out for you.” “My recording’s now, have to go now, let’s meet again and I’d like to hear everything when you’re ready!” Koyama then turned and went out of the room, turning back just at the door and smiled warmly to Yamapi.
Yamapi smiled in return although Koyama was way down the corridor already, everything in life seemed to be going down the right direction all of a sudden, and it made his heart blooming in joy.
Even though they were officially together now, Yamapi found it hard to find enough time for Ryo. Ryo was also as busy as always, working at the studio and at the road constructions. Higashiyama sensei had also given Ryo extra work to do at his off hours, Yamapi was angry about this, he didn’t like that Ryo’s kindness and generosity was being abused, but Ryo insisted that he had asked for it himself. Ryo really wanted to start doing work related to photography more than cleaning and setting props at the studio etcetera. Yamapi peered over at Ryo working on the computer on the photos while he prepared their late pasta dinner. Ryo raised his head and apologized to Yamapi asking to help but Pi scooted him to continue his own work. He didn’t mind their dates being like this, he was content with just quietly being beside Ryo, looking at him work, looking at his brows scrunching when he was thinking hard and occasionally satisfied smiles leaking when he had accomplished something.
They settled on the couch after cleaning up together. Ryo said his favorite activity was washing the dishes together, and so even though Pi had a dishwasher, they ended up scrubbing the dishes and drying them together. Pi didn’t understand initially why Ryo would want to wash dishes together, but then he realized the magic of it, standing side by side, peering at each other once in a while, splashing each other with water, and their hands accidentally touching when passing the dishes, he was happy Ryo had made him understand the happiness of the littlest things in life. With his previous girlfriends, they would never settle for something less than the fanciest restaurants, with Ryo, even cup noodles and micro waved dinners became gourmets.
Ryo leaned against Pi on the couch with the notebook on his knees, still working on the finishing touches of their last photo shoot.
“Sorry, I shouldn’t be working on our date…” Ryo said quietly, his eyes still focused on the screen. Yamapi took a look at the screen and smiled, the last thing he was going to do was criticize Ryo for working hard, it was not easy to find a night when he was not working late himself and had to miss seeing Ryo. Yamapi wrapped an arm around Ryo’s waist from behind and pulled him closer, then fumbled through the channels on the remote with his other hand. He breathed in the scent from Ryo’s shampooed hair and closed his eyes. Ryo’s warmth against him felt so comfortable.
“Nee, Pi, don’t fall asleep.” Ryo whined and turned his head around to Pi.
“Mmmmm?” “ I’m not falling asleep baby…” Pi forced his heavy lids open and nuzzled his nose against Ryo’s neck. Ryo giggled and moved away, “Nee, what do you think about Tatsuya kun?” Ryo pointed at the screen to the photos of Ueda he was working on.
“hnn? Ueda kun? You call him Tatsuya?” Pi didn’t know why he was a bit bothered at that news.
“He requested I called him that.” Ryo replied and turned back to the screen. “I don’t know why but he keeps coming to the studio…”
Yamapi smiles and tickles Ryo around his waist. “Is someone trying to steal my little Ryo-chan.” Ryo giggles and tries to wither out of Pi’s hold, he puts down the laptop and turns around to face Pi, still giggly. “No, I’m serious, he scares me sometimes, he has all these excuses for coming to the studio, and each time he…”
Yamapi pats Ryo’s head and smiles. “Ueda is a nice person and a member of Jin’s group, I’m sure he’s just trying to be nice, don’t worry about him.” He ruffles Ryo’s hair again and stands up from his position, stretching and yawning.
Ryo pouts and bites his lips, “Ya, maybe…” “Pi, you should go to bed, it’s late, I’ll just stay here and finish this…” He then pushes Pi back to his bedroom and sighs as he walks back to living room, sitting down with legs crossed on the carpet with the computer on the table and back against the couch. He sighs again as he looks at the pictures of Ueda, Ryo knows it’s bad to thinking badly of someone, on top it’s someone that is a friend and colleague of your best friends. Besides, Ueda had really never done anything but shown his hospitality and amiability, it was Ryo’s fault to be intimidated by pure friendliness.
“Did it happen!!?”
Yamapi was awaken the next morning by Jin shouting at him through the phone.
Indeed it was the first time Ryo stayed over at his place, but not to mention 4th base, they had hardly went through first, second and third. Ryo was busy and he was tired, the idea didn’t even have room to come up. Pi was content with the way it was though, he felt good around Ryo and them being both comfortable was all he wanted right now.
“You must do it carefully you know, cause it’s both of your first times…” Jin keeps on babbling, “You can get the lube at…”
“Hey nice talking Jin, have to work!!” Pi shouts over Jin’s voice and cuts the line.
Yamapi smiles inwardly at Jin’s information, although Jin’s persistent meddling was getting on his nerves, he can’t help but gets excited over the fact that there’s someone supporting them and cheering them on, and the fact that he still had Ryo’s virginity to claim. Yamapi beamed at the thought.
Yamapi went into the living room disappointed to find Ryo gone, but a table full of food, a pot of hot coffee and a note from Ryo immediately cheered him up. Pi smiled as he read the note.
Dear Pi,
Finish the breakfast I made for you and we’re even! ><

Ryo’s Japanese characters were like a kid’s writing and Pi couldn’t help laugh at it. In the end Ryo has never been schooled in Japan, but he noticed that Ryo was zealously reading books and newspapers recently to polish up on his mother language and that was only more for Pi to admire him on.
Ryo still didn’t have a cell phone though, and Pi was dejected at not being able to call and tease Ryo on his note.
Ryo carried his laptop and rushed into the studio, he had used too much time in preparing Pi’s breakfast he didn’t have any time to feed himself, he was also getting dangerously close to being late for the early shoot that morning. He bumped into someone who bursted out from somewhere and fell with his printed photos and laptop flying off to the ground.
“RYO-chan!” The man screamed in delight and reached out his arm to help Ryo. Ryo looked up to see Ueda again, why again! He thought to himself. Ueda smirked and squat down to pick up the photos of himself, beaming amusedly “Why Ryo-chan, you were also thinking of me…”
Also? Ryo thought, well he couldn’t really deny it since he was somewhat thinking about Ueda. But did that mean Ueda was thinking about him?
“Hey sorry, I’m getting late, talk to you later.” Ryo hastily grabbed the photos from Ueda, picked up his computer and other stuff and literally ran back to the studio.
Ryo slumped down at a seat in the corner, disconsolate and upset for being yelled at by Higashiyama Sensei, he caught Ishikawa covertly grinning by sensei’s side as well. Ryo sighed, all he had worked on for hours last night was gone as his computer broke from the fall. He sighed again, Higashiyama sensei had gratefully endowed him with such an important task but he had failed him, Ishikawa most happily joined in and jeered on Ryo when Higashiyama sensei was shouting, adding on that Ryo was too inexperienced for such a job. But Ryo had worked all night, hardly resting his eyes for 15minutes or so to continue on his work, he was satisfied with the results and was excited and looking forward about showing it to Sensei today. Ryo fought hard to suppress his tears. He had been motivated to work even harder having started out with Pi. He wanted to climb higher in his job and be able to be comparable at least a bit to how successful Pi was. A tear slowly crept down his smooth face as he mused at their huge difference in whichever aspect possible.
“I can’t see you tonight, sorry” Pi whispered, covering half the transmitter with his palm to keep his voice down. Ryo had called him from a street phone and Pi was more than elated to hear his voice, but he was working on a movie now and they were going to shoot a dawn scene tonight, that meant working till morning.
Ryo really wanted to see Pi, he had somehow grew accustomed to Pi’s condolences whenever he was down, and today he felt awful, he brought his laptop to a repairman and was almost ridiculed on how old his computer was and that it was unsalvageable . Ryo had been using it since the beginning of college which was a good old 4 years, he had to admit it was getting too old for it’s own good. Not only had he really lost the project he’s done though, the most disheartening thing was, Ryo had put all his family photos into his computer for easier carriage, and now they were all gone, his childhood and all his memories of his parents.
“Ryo?...” Pi sensed silence on Ryo’s end. “Are you ok?”
Ryo covered the transmitter and sniffed, ignoring the tears welling around his eyes. He was glad Pi wasn’t able to see him crying now. “un huh ..nope, I’m fine, just wanted to tell you I saw your PV today, and the way you were trying to act cool looked so funny!” Ryo tried hard to appear buoyant.
Pi couldn’t help but smile. “I’ll go find you as soon as filming ends tomorrow ok? I’ve got to go now!” Pi whispers again, and sends a peck through the phone before he ends the call.
Ryo hangs the handset back on the booth and sighs, enveloping his laptop close to his body.
