Summary: When Alex asks how Robert died, Danielle remembers her experiences of the smoke monster.
He’d gone down the hole as one man, and he had come back as another.
They’d all seen what happened to Nadine, and yet Robert said it was not a monster, but a security system. It had infected him in some way, Danielle knew. He looked and sounded like her Robert, yet he was changed.
She had had to think of her baby. That was why she had shot the man she loved.
But when Alex was returned to her, she asked Danielle how her father died, and Danielle knew Alex would fear her if she knew.
She began to wonder which of them was really the monster.
