I love this! So many of them were pulled and pushed around by unseen forces - Ben, John, all the Candidates, really. When S5 first aired, I kind of hated the 'passive Jack' episodes where he refused to help Ben, etc, but they're so key in retrospect. They needed to have someone acknowledge the machinations and let go with both hands for a minute. Then Jack decides to take action- to literally help blow the whole thing up, but of course it doesn't work because....course correction. :)

Ah, the limits of the 42 minute show- there were so many little moments they could have given us if they'd had the time, and I very much enjoyed this one with Ben and Smoky.
