I hadn't thought about this in ages but reading that just reminded me of a time ages ago when I'd rejected one potential fic idea for Lost because I thought it was just too crazy and then two years on, canon actually came pretty close to it. Maybe I'm not as bad a guesser as I'd thought?
With this particular plotline, I immediately thought it would go the way I described here, but I do think there are lots of ways it could go.
I just posted an entry after the last episode where I mentioned that same thought about Roland and whether it would work. Having seen Emma and Regina as you mentioned, and Elsa breaking Anna's curse in the original Frozen which I only just got round to watching, I did wonder if it would be possible with Roland. One reply I got was that Roland may just not know Marian that well yet - was it ever stated in canon quite how old he was when Marian died? I can't remember. But he hasn't spent that much time with her. The other thing that crossed my mind was, would Robin think that seeing Marian like that would just traumatise Roland too much and therefore not let him near her?
I don't know. I still think it is a possibility that it could work, I'm not writing it off quite yet. (This really wasn't the ending I wanted for Marian, I wanted her to leave Robin). I would like to see them try getting Roland to kiss her.
