(no subject)
There was a fire at our cinema yesterday and one of the theaters was completely destroyed. I believe it is the top one, as the fire was in the roof area at the back part of the building - where that particular screen is located. Unfortunately that theater has the biggest screen, and is the one where all the big releases are shown. Harry Potter, Star Wars, Transformers, and thus the one that makes them the most money. It's also the 'old cinema' and had a lot of the very pretty original architecture and plaster work on the walls.
A friend of mine works at the cinema, but it happened at about 7am so no-one was hurt and there was no-one working. They blocked off half of the street though, which played major havoc with the traffic as the street that the cinema is in is off one of the main streets of the town.
Unfortunately they will lose quite a lot of money until they can get it fixed, which is a shame because the current owners only brought the cinema about 2 years ago.
