More new things and firsts

Jamie's understanding is exploding right now. At least, his ability to express it certainly is. A few days ago, after Adrian was handing out olives from his pizza to the kids, I asked "what about *my* olive?". Jamie looked at Adrian and I and said "mummy want olives too", which I was impressed by. Travis remarked yesterday that Jamie was going to drive me crazy, and Jamie responded that no, he couldn't drive, and that the car in the garage is mummy's. He's also been summarizing stories and books, and yes, we read him books with enough plot that there us something to summarize.

Katie is climbing. She made it to the top of a stepladder that Jamie only got part way up before climbing down again. Sure I had to lift her off, but I reckon she might have been ok even if I hadn't. She can now say grandma and granddad but she's as poor at applying them correctly as she is with "mummy" and "daddy". The only word she reliably gets correct is "shoes", which was one of Jamie's firsts too. I guess we have two outdoorsy kids.
