tiny rant about a peeve of mine

OK you know what? When people declare their love for each other they do not use full names.

THEY JUST DON'T.

I'm so tired of reading fic where people say "I love you Joe Patrick Smith!" And the reply is "And I love you Ted Allen Jones!"

People do not talk like that, OK?

OK.

ETA: Apparently some people do. I still loathe it in fic.

I'm trying to remember the last time I said my husband's first name, much less his last. I don't know if I've ever said his whole name. Except during the marriage ceremony.

Hell, remember the time we were at the restaurant and realized that a group of six or eight had barely said a name in an HOUR?

The only people who say my name repeatedly in conversation are big-budget item salespeople. We bought a car recently and I went on name overload.
