I'm deeply shamed. I checked out 1001 Books You Should Read Before You Die, and realized I've read nothing.
Only 181 books on the list have I actually read. And a great number of those I read in high school due to reading requirements. The list is divided by centuries and shockingly enough I'm weakest in the 21st century literature. I rock rather well on 20th and 19th, again mainly due to reading requirements.
So I guess, in addition to my keeping track of the books I read and re-read, I will now endeavor to read more of these 1001 books. Granted there are a few that I *will NOT* read. I'm sorry, I've tried to read Ulysses more than once and it ain't happening. The same goes for anything by Hemingway or Conrad that I haven't yet read...because dude, I ain't reading that crap without getting a grade for it. And I probably won't be able to get through Bonfire of the Vanities, it's another one I've tried and failed at more than once. Thank god I got through War and Peace during my prententious phase, cause I'm pretty sure I couldn't do it again.
Entertaining point, every single one of the books on the list that have been banned or challenged at some point in history I have read. Something about telling me a book is naughty makes me compelled to read it. Now if only there were more porn on the list, my numbers would skyrocket.
