Two Comments and Grindiefic Query
Yes, I live.
1) I have returned from CAJE and am still coming down off of a spiritual high. I will never not go again.
Lots of wacky stories including one that involves my father utilising some clothes hangers and a vacuum cleaner as a cello, but that will have to wait until I have a greater attention span. (There are also pictures of this.)
2) Alabama is a no-go. Anyone that was counting upon me being in Alabama for a year for their varying fun and kicks will just have to be disappointed. San Diego is the next stop on the itinerary now. Sorry.
And now, a poll:
I am going to restart Grindiefic.
It is not in any way, shape, or form HBP-compliant. It makes use of the Great Marvolo Line which JKR so neatly ruined for us. I have finally found a way to go back and rewrite to make it fit almost as perfectly as it did before. I have pages of notes of things I'd have to do. It won't be easy, but it could work. It involves changing the entire motivation for things since there is no Morrigan Marvolo for Grindie to have been in love with before she died and Merope wasn't exactly the sort.
There's always the worry that shoving canon back in with a shoehorn will somehow diminish everything. I made this world to mesh with canon in ways that had never been done before. It did, too. But it also meshed with itself beautifully, and changing it messes with the delicate balance of threads in the all-too-intricate web I wove.
Should I make it do that again? Or should I just go with what I have since what I have works pretty well?
