I'm getting dressed for the seder tonight, and I got to thinking.
Is it permissible to wear a brassiere on Pesach?
In biblical times, this would not have been an issue that was raised since brassieres had a few thousand years before they'd be invented. And when the argument over the New World foods such as corn, legumes, and other foods unknown to Middle Eastern agriculture such as rice (which has the appearance of rising) arose, still the brassiere had yet to be conceived.
So now I raise, forgive the pun, the question. We put them on dutifully without a thought, but are we breaking the laws of the holiday by wearing these garments?
I believe that this warrants further study.
