I think I can, I think I can, I think I can, I think...
I just have to make it to Wednesday.
Needless to say, my life has been a bit insane lately. Let's see if I can sum up.
Last week we had our last two days of class. My mythology group presented our feminist interpretation of the Bacchae, complete with putting our male group member in a skirt, bright pink wig, and sparkley feather boa. It was wonderful. Except for the fact that they couldn't close the handcuffs around my wrist, since the owner of them couldn't find the keys, and it would have made everything *much* shorter if Dionysus couldn't get out of the handcuffs in the first scene: Pentheus wins, the end, everyone goes home! *grin* After the presentations, the class voted, and our group tied with the Structuralism group! Wahoo! So, instead of taking one group out to ice cream, the professor had to take two groups, a total of 18 people, out to ice cream!
In my Egypt class on Tuesday we came up with questions for the final exam. I came up with some good ones (I'm so brilliant *grin*), and Craig, our adult student, came up with some questions that the class vetoed! Poor Craig! The questions range from the serious (describe depictions of kingship -- my question, and also the one I'll be writing about for the test this Tuesday) to the silly (if you were an Egyptian God, who would you want to be or design a 9-hole putt-putt course with an Ancient Egypt theme) The last question, suggested by the teacher, is "come up with your own question and answer it!" Plus, we get a 3x5 index card of notes to take into the exam. So I've been spending some time today working on that.
On Wednesday, I went to campus for the ice cream treat provided by my myth professor. Only 4 students showed up! 4 out of 18! The professor got off easy! But it was a nice 45-minute ice cream and chat with the professor, plus, the ice cream at the campus creamery is good! After that, I hung out in the (insanely busy) library for awhile, before going to my early medieval history review session. I like this professor's review sessions, since he basically tells you what the answers to the essays should be! *grin*
Thursday I went back to campus for a meeting with my Japan professor about my rough draft (which I turned in on Tuesday). She said it was a good term paper, but not a research paper (yea, I didn't know what she meant either). She also gave me a bunch of stuff to read -- 3/4 of an inch of paper! -- and I have to rework my paper quite a bit. Do-able, but annoying. She also wants me to go to the Library of Congress to find a particular book...
On Friday I had my mythology exam, which wasn't too bad, although, after writing for 2 hours, my hand was really sore. By the end of the exam, my writing was no longer pretty -- both my handwriting sucked by that point, and my paragraphs weren't exactly pretty!
Today, I've been working on various stuff. I have a bunch of reading on the Carolingians to do that I didn't do when it was assigned in class. I also have to work on my Japan essay, and prepare for my early medieval history exam (which worries me) which is on Monday, and my physics and Egypt exams on Tuesday. And somewhere in there, I need to finish and turn in my Japan essay.
I know it sounds like my life hasn't been particularly amusing lately, but along with stress seems to come an amusement in the absurd in life. Like campus squirrels. I swear, their entire purpose is to go around digging holes in campus, just to annoy the landscaping people! And someone put a Santa hat on the Jim Henson statue. And people are leaving offerings to the turtle sculpture, which I think is pretty funny.
What else. I don't know. I can't think of anything else off of the top of my head, but I've been laughing hysterically a lot lately, with things that are probably only really funny in my strange brain.
Anyway, that's my update. Check in again with me after Wednesday, to see if I'm still alive! *grin*
