when I was young, my family often went to the movies. however we never attempted to arrive on time and invariable sat down long after the feature had started. at the end we would stay in our seats until the next showing so that we could watch the movie again from the beginning. so I was forced to watch the movie out of sequence, unconsciously having to decipher the characters and plot of a story that I was entering halfway through, never fully appreciating the conclusion until an hour later during the first reel.
