Yesterday, I went back to the docs office to pick up the script for my stronger painkillers (they have to have a paper script for this stuff at the pharmacy) and I was all set to ask for a different drug, when the nurse said, "Hey, if you still want the Lupron, we have some here - I don't know why she (the doc) sent you to the pharmacy."
Sigh. Why is it always the case that the nurses know waaaaaay more than the doctors about what is and isn't on hand? In the doc's defense, I think that the nurse kind of kept it on hand on the down low for people like me who couldn't easily afford it.
So, I got my shot in house for no co-pay. (My left butt cheek is still sore.) Still, in three months when it's time for this again, I don't want to be caught flat-footed if that nurse doesn't happen to order it, so I'm going to call hubby's pharmacist uncle to see about arranging to get it cheaper.
In any case, $584 is better than $1168.
On another note, the stronger painkillers were actually too strong for me to function on them, so I'm back to the slightly weaker ones. BTW, if anyone else out there gets nauseous from opiates like I do, I've found that ginger pills work great at relieving it. They're also great for motion sickness. :)
