Paying attention?

So... I've been on a steady regimen of Metamucil, since overtime and the scattered hours I've been sorta spotty. I know ya'll wanna hear this, but I've been trying to get through a mini-marathon of the West Wing (season 2 on DVD), which has been constantly interrupted by frequent commercial breaks brought to me by Metamucil and Kohler.

Being a right winger, I bristled when friend's would recommend a show following the exploits of a democrat in the white house. I'd considered it for awhile, especially after fellow hardcore republicans made a point of aggressively recommending it and it was at the point when a similarly inclined fellow was kind enough to loan me his copy of the first season that I took it home and... left it on the coffee table. There it sat for weeks. Until he asked with mild regularity as to my opinions of the series. When he specified my political leanings and my thoughts I was intrigued so I decided on my day off to give it a shot and expected to be patiently taking my time analyzing stuff, angrily filling out lists of stuff that pissed me off as I occasionally find reason to do with stuff on TV.

So imagine my surprise when I'm hooked from the first five minutes and by the time Martin Sheen makes his first appearance I'm actually looking for President Bartlett swag on the interwebs. Needless to say, when I inteded to dedicate one day off to it and that "day off became a marathon dedicated to watching it I found myself stunned. This show is amazing and I want to complain no one told me about it before, but even though my political preferences clearly aren't advertised here I am drawn in by the magnificent writing and the stellar performances.

As the first season drew to a close I nearly tore my hair out (what's left of it... anyway) and I needed more. I began sputtering in excited frothing sounds to my friend who graciously loaned me his precious set of discs and tried to cohesively explain my enthusiasm and he returned my sputtering with equal fervor. I'm 2 discs into the second season and I'm giddy with anticipation since I've actually got years worth of the series to catch up on. I love it. I wish it were a blanket so I could snuggle up in it and writhe in the ecstasy of its warmth. I want to grow up and work for Leo McGarry and Josiah Bartlett. I think going into Law is definitely the right choice.

Since that last bit bordered on creepy, I feel I should nerd things up and having said that I have a couple of new friends in my collection. New TF Animated figures and some of the new Classics/Universe figures. My favorite one so far is probably Soundwave. He's like a lil' Scion and he has a freaking guitar that turns into Laserbeak. He's smaller than I'd like, but hot damn he's a fun little addition. Oil Slick is awesome, weird, but charming. Jazz is disappointing in a way, but he's neat because he turns from some porsche-looking car into what looks like a guy in a jumpsuit with nunchucks. Then I snagged the horribly misnamed Snarl, a fun little dinobot with a remarkable amount of personality molded into him and nothing holding him together. I am lovin' this series. The figures are good, the show is phenomenal and this pleases the Sean ever so much. Ironically, the better these guys get, the more I feel inspired to clear out my suffocating collection. I also have new to report that I snagged Powerglide, Blaster, Tankor, Sunstreaker, Prowl and Onslaught.

And to slither back onto the opening topic... I have taken five "commercial breaks" during the time it took me to post this. Argh.
