S. Neil Fujita
I was listening to some jazz this morning (not something I do often) and started to wonder who did the cover art for Mingus Ah Um and Take Five. A little googling gave me the name S. Neil Fujita, which was good to know... and then a bit more googling and holy crap, S. Neil Fujita is a freakin' design mack daddy.
Besides doing some of my favorite jazz covers (next to Jim Flora), he did the iconic cover for In Cold Blood AND designed the original Godfather logo. All while doing all sorts of corporate work, too. The man could paint, do fantastic abstract design, and has a great way around fat serif fonts.
