Self Surgery
I got tired of all the phone calls. Doctors appointment, and paperwork to get a referral, office losing the referral so that I have to start all over again. People telling me that they couldn't schedule an appointment for over a month in the future when my finger hurt all the time. Bought the nicest tweezers I could find, sterilized them, and pulled that bit of ceramic out of my finger that has been there for far too long. Cost me less than my insurance copay too. This is what not hurting feels like. :-)
Makes me want to write software to make finding an available doctor anyplace other than an emergency room that can help people soon instead of sometime, eventually. Just another example of the American "system" being an abomination.
