Bike commuting weight loss

Sep 19, 2007 09:44

This morning my scale indicated that I have lost a total of 51 pounds since I started bike commuting, and since I got the fancy fat monitoring scale the fraction of my total mass that is fat has gone down by 10%. Which means that most of that 51 pounds that I lost was actually fat. 50 pounds is about the same weight as 6 gallons of water. Those big heavy water cooler bottles are 5 gallons so one of those plus another gallon jug worth of weight that I'm not carrying with me everywhere I go any more. Based on what fraction of the weight I lost was fat, and how much fat I have to lose for the scale to tell me that I'm fit I have about 22 pounds left to lose. Based on my current weight loss rate that will be a little under 4.5 months from now.

I've also lost six inches around my waist, and gone from wearing XXL shirts to large, and sometimes medium. Most of my clothes don't fit any more. I think I will try to sell a lot of them.
