I'm halfway done with week 8 of constant bike commuting. I keep hearing this Greg LeMond (Winner of the Tour De France multiple times) quote in my head. "It doesn't get easier you just get faster". It kind of seems true. Each week I don't know which muscles are going to be aching, but I do know that I will probably be a little faster. I frequently pass people going uphill now. Though a lot of people pass me too. Most of them however are thin, on light expensive bikes, and practically no cargo. I on the other hand have a heavy old bike, two full bags, and some extra weight as fat. So my burden is probably bigger. I have a long ways to go before I even lose the "obese" label. After about 5 months of working toward that goal I think I am past the halfway point, but really my goal is to be fit, and that is an even bigger challenge.
