Hope you're 4th was a blast this past weekend. How was it for me? I guess it was okay.

So with the 4th last weekend, I managed (thankfully due to my schedule at work) to have a 4 day weekend away from work. This was a great thing all things considered and I took advantage of it somehow, but at the same time it was detrimental to some work that needed to be done. So the first day was a bit of working a bit at home, playing MGS 4 and Metal Gear Online and catching up on much needed sleep.

On the 4th, I decided to head out and grab a haircut (which was needed) and a couple of other errands done before I was supposed to head to this get together (which apparently I didn't make it to due to logistical problems). Although, I did have fun near the end of the night hanging out with my best friend and his wife eating dinner, watching a movie, and just overall hanging out and talking about different subjects. So what did we go for dinner? Well it was a bit of fast food, and my best friend and I decided to take my car. And thus the preemptive strike was done. We take turns when it comes to trying to grab the dinner tab when we go out, and thus since it was my turn, I sneakily managed to take my car since I was the guest, so I had access to intercepting the bill. Hehe.

After we grabbed the dinner package, headed back to their place to watch a bit of "What not to wear." I must say that is an interesting show, and I did like how it all turned out. I know one or two folks was saying it was a good show and it did really show that things can change for the better for people. Makes me want to think about what I'm wearing and figure out if a change is necessary per say. Most likely that might be a yes?

So after watching that for a bit, we decided to pop in the latest version of the "The Phantom of the Opera." Small fact that I didn't know and we didn't confirm till during the ending credits was that Gerard "300" Butler was the Phantom. And thus the 300 jokes started to ensue all based on what we saw in "Phantom." Another thing that was mentioned by my best friend's wife is the look that the character Christine Daaé has on during the whole movie. And that look was, a deer caught in headlights. The whole movie went downhill from there as I couldn't get that thought out of my head and it made me laugh a bit every time I saw her. So we hung a bit more, had a desert that I had made (my mom's recipe), and ended the night.

Also I came to the realization before I left that this past Sunday was their 5th Year Anniversary of being married. My how time flies. I congratulated them on that before I left and it got me to think tonight that I'm very happy for them both. They are definitely a great couple and I wish them nothing but the best in what they do in the future. Hopefully they won't make me an Uncle again just yet (when you're Filipino, and you're friends with others, they're automatically considered family "Uncles" and/or "Aunties", and just remember if I do have kids, you too will be considered as such.).

So yeah, it was a great day (with a bit of fireworks from the neighbors), and more Metal Gear Online at home. For some reason I love the base scenario games that happen in that game (which is capture control points on a map and hold all of them to win). Luckily, I picked the right skills that helped the team I was on win a lot more during those scenarios. I'll never forget this one match where we had 4 out of 5 bases (and the enemy was trying to capture two or three at the same time) and I managed to capture the last one, without the enemy knowing it. Call it very Good Luck that they didn't spot me (or more so their attention was elsewhere). What happened was, I managed to hide behind a barrel that kept me out of view of a few players that were sniping others on my team and I managed to claim the base by staying in that fixed position for it to happen. Had they seed me move, it would've been a lose for the team. And thus ended the 4th.

Saturday and Sunday, mostly me catching up on rest, a bit of Metal Gear Online and a whole lot of work on my hands.

So how was today? Long. I was up since about 2 this morning trying to work on stuff for work because it was due today. Again, a few lessons learned from the weekend when you know that work is a clear and present threat to your overall peace of mind when trying to relax. So yeah I managed to get it done, but yep crashed out when I got home, and now I'm about to do it again. Here's hoping tomorrow gets a bit more quieter. I don't think it will, but here's to hoping.

There's so much to do, too many choices. And thus, the thoughts have seeped in my mind. Consider this, there are so many things to do in this day and age that we enjoy doing. As such, things take priority and thus life gets in the way. I'm very much at that point in my life, where due to work, and everything else, I'm going to be reducing a lot of things in the next few months. What do I mean, here's an example or two.

Example #1: Video Games. Just thinking about it, I've got limited time to devote to a game (let alone the several hundred? that I currently have). So, it got me to thinking which games would I really want to play through while on others cheat my way through. I know for some of those that would say, but "don't you rob yourself of experience of accomplishment", most likely yes. Although, at this point of my life, again, there's not enough hours in the day (let alone week) to devote to say a 96 hour or 120 hour game anymore (i.e. a lot of RPGs out there). And thus in order to eliminate the burden of said games (all of them), it's either this, or they just sit there, collecting dust. The other thing that comes to mind is that sooner or later, I'll kick this mortal coil and be leaving it for others to sort out. I rather not have that. And thus, while I'm still healthy and alive, I rather give away these games (or at least trade them in for a select few) so that I can at least know that I won't have a heavy imprint of stuff if the inevitable happens.

Example #2: Anime/Regular Tv?. Currently with the deluge (or should we say Tsumami at this point) of new and old series coming out, I've come to the realization that there's just too much to watch. Somehow I got a backlog dating all the way back from College (let alone the rest that's coming out on a daily basis). Again, going back to the theory of limited time/limited resources/etc. something has to give. So again, the choices come up on what to do about said backlog (give it away), not watch it, etc.

So where does that put me? Puts me in a state of deep thought on what to do next, but hopefully I'll be creating a solution(s) near the end of this weekend (and all throughout the month) to alleviate my concerns over the growing trend.

Any thoughts on the subject are welcome and recommended.

In Video Games, I'm excited for Persona 4 coming out near my birthday, so that'll be cool. Although, if anybody has played Persona 3, I'm betting dollars to Doughnuts that someone will create a controversy over how they evoke Personas in this game. It won't be as bad as last time, but yeah, none the less someone will complain.

Oh yeah Dragon*Con is out of the picture for the time being till next year, and since they just announced the dates for AX for next year, I'll be starting to plan probably a bit later for that. Oh, and I forgot, AWA plans are finalized so I'll see you in September everyone in ATL and surrounding areas. :)

Well that's pretty much it for me. Again, hope your weekend was great and relaxing and hope to catch up with all of you soon.

- Ed :)
