It's been a rough night. I never figured EL would be impenetrable, but I also didn't figure we'd get quite the influx we got. See, it's right at the base of a canyon road, so all the folks from up-canyon kind of funnel down to it. Fortunately Sandie and Olaf and I weren't the only ones who showed up, and all the folks who live there, so we had a good dozen of us to fend off the stragglers as they stumbled down the mountain or up the highway from town. It might have been a little easier with some shotguns, but 'long and heavy' makes a pretty good strategy. We're holding our own pretty well for now.
It's been quiet for the last hour or two, but I just don't think it's over. We're taking watches overnight; Ian and I have the next watch, mostly to raise the alarm if anything's coming. Gives me lots of time to think, and lots of time to worry about all the folks in my family I haven't had a chance to connect with.
