As I didn't get to Spiral Scratch last week I didn't have a chance to play my new favourite songs, instead I thought I would give them in a handy list format...
1.
Katsen - Constellation
Happy Robots' favourite new band, a very cute looking duo from Brighton, enjoy!
2.
Neon Neon - Raquel ("Stainless Style" Lex),
Finally Gruff Rhys has finally done a wicked album, I'm in love with him all over again now, teenage crushes never leave you.
3.
Cut/Copy - Feel The Love (from "In Ghose Colours")
My new favourite pop band, I've been listening to their new album constantly the last few months.
4.
Styrofoam - After Sunset (download it for free
here) (From "A Thousand Words")
Finding out their was a new Styrofoam album made my day yesterday (yep I am sad with no life). Even more poppy that his previous album, I've already listened to this song about 10 times this weekend and not got bored yet. I heart styrofoam!
5.
The Bridal Shop - From Seas (From "From Seas" happy happy birthday to me)
Everything The Bridal Shop does makes me smile, Factory Records tinged loveliness.
6.
M83 - Graveyard Girl (from "Saturdays Youth)
Total shoegaze pop, for lovers of the radio dept, a lot more guitary than I remember them being.
7.
The Declining Winter - Oh God C'mon (from "Goodbye Minnesota" on Rusted Rail Records)
This is Richard Adams of Hood's new project, though his brother Chris (also of Hood) appears on this track and also Nichola from Empress (just like the good old days!). The new album is really starting to grow on me and has taken over 'The Return of The Durutti Column" as the album I put on at work to drown out the sounds of the office. It's all very Hood and Richard's voice really sounds very much like his brother's, but that's great cause Hood are/were the best band to come out of Leeds (apart from maybe Marc Almond) so more of the same is never a bad thing. Arthur and Martha are playing with them soon and I'm really looking forward to seeing them.
8.
Grovesnor - Drive Your Car (single on Greco Roman)
This song is like an updated version of the Billy Ocean classic "Get Out Of My Dreams (and into my car)", with crunchy beats it's a lot less AOR than his usual, awesometime!
9.
Death Cab For Cutie - I Will Possess Your Heart (from "Narrow Stairs")
Yep you know me, sad death cab fan! Long intro but worth the wait, the vibes on the track remind me of American Analog Set.
Ahh, Ben Gibbard my indie rock heart throb, you'll see me at the Electric Ballroom gig trying to throw him an Arthur and Martha record!
10.
The Notwist - Good Lies, (from "The Devil, You + Me")
I love this band so much, he's got the prettiest indie boy voice (but I imagine doesn't look like the pretty indie boy I imagine), this song is less electronic than previous stuff, but still makes me smile. "Neon Golden" was such a good record they've got so much to live up to, I hope they can do it
