LA MOMA

Last Saturday, I realized how fortunate I am to be living in LA, rather than Austin or Seattle, for this time in my life. I attended a conference at the MOMA called "A Subculture in Ecstasy: How the Psychedelic Revolution Marked American Culture." One speakers, I didn't agree with. One speaker was boring, but he had an interesting topic ... linking John Cage's and Terry Riley's innovations in the 1960s to modern structure in psytrance. He played Hallucinogen, upon which I was the only one to start laughing ... maybe I was the only one to recognize the track.

Two speakers were awesome, James Fadiman, Ph.D., who conducted LSD creativity studies in the 1960s and Fred Tomaselli, an artist currently being shown at the Geffen exhibit (Ecstacy: In and About Altered States). I highly encourage others in the area to explore this exhibit. It is a beautiful representation of modern pop culture and the effects of the psychedelic revolution upon worldview. Although, it is a much better exhibit when the museum is more empty than full.

Good weekend, barely studied for school = sane.
