I need to not abandon this thing as much as I do. I feel bad because I wasn't even around to find out about Nick's grandma or Lizzie's dog dying. Plus, then I have to make long ass entries because thats just me, I always feel the need to record everything, because one day I'll be old and won't be able to remember it all on my own.
So again, a good deal of action has happened since my last entry. While being out of school, still looking for a job and single definitely makes you feel uneasy at times, its also kind of cool in that anything can happen at any moment, and you pretty much never know where your life may be at within a week.
I'll have to do a date by date run down again I guess.
August 21: Had my Dixie Bones date with Jackie, Nick and Victoria and then checked out the two story porn store in Springfield when I had to drop Jackoff at the metro because, hey, it's a two story porn store, why not?
August 22: I met with Mr. Geraghty who works for the Close Up Foundation ( an educational Capitol Hill group essentially) and produces a show for C-SPAN so I could talk to him about how to break into broadcasting and who I should contact. Then that night was Lyle Lovett at Wolf Trap, and I can't remember anything too spectacular happening.
August 23: I had an interview with Fizz Media in Leesburg. It went really well, and I was very interested in what the company was doing and they seemed to like me a lot too. Then I rode Scarlett that day, and that night was Steve Miller at Wolf Trap, which was pretty cool.
August 24: That was Burce Hornsby night, which pretty much just ended up being pretty boring, and Victoria and I were super late to work because there was some ridiculous accident on the beltway which involved a crane falling off a tractor trailer.
August 25: I rode Scarlett again and worked the Boston Pops show, which was just plain crazy because of all the old people, and thus buses and wheel chairs we had to take care of
August 26: I had to move Victoria back into school, which I must admit was definitely a bit weird for me because it was the first time in four years that I wasn't moving back into school. I realized I miss that feeling a lot though, simply the excitement of a new year starting and seeing friends that you haven't seen for a few months really is a lot of fun. Then I worked the Kenny Rogers show at Wolf Trap which went pretty smoothly, and I had to return back to DC to hang out with Victoria at Brothers and spend the night there.
August 27: Victoria and I woke up bright and early for church and then went to go work Reggae fest. Overall, it was a pretty chill show and a decent crowd, but it was so exhausting because it lasted so long, and every crowd has its token assholes. I even had to deal with the race card a couple times, which was not fun.
August 28: Did more job searching, and I remember I just plain received a ton of phone calls from people that day. Then Fizz Media even called me and asked me to come by for a trial period with them, so I gladly accepted. I also finally was able to hang out with Emily Campbell, and we had a great time going to Old Town Alexandria with Deniz (I hope I spelled that right) and checking out the scene.
August 29: went to work at Fizz Media, edited some footage for them, and then went to a shoot at a wood shop which was pretty interesting. That night also started the long run of Beauty and the Beast at WT.That night I also hung out with Danny to celebrate his 23rd.
August 30: I had an interview with the Apple store in Pentagon City because I decided to apply there in case by fall I still didn't have full time. I got along well there, but I'm pretty sure they don't want me because they could tell simply from my resume that I would want to leave them as soon as I land a full time real job. That day also started and incredibly depressing run of cold, rainy weather thanks to Ernesto.
August 31: Did a lot of editing at Fizz Media, was super cold working that night at Wolf Trap, came home, passed out.
September 1: Went on a shoot for a commercial for a store in Sterling, did pretty well as producer. Then the two guys who run the company sat me down and told me that they like me a lot, but they're not sure if they're ready to take me on for full time yet, but they still wanted me to come in and hang out for a couple days so they could make a final decision. Then I also had the worst night ever at Wolf Trap. It was raining buckets, cold, and all the rain was blowing in the house, so I was going crazy trying to reseat miserable patrons and not simply run away from all the nasty weather.
September 2: The rain stopped, but it was still incredibly cold. You shouldn't have to wear 3 layers in September and still be freezing. Victoria and I worked the matinee all day, and then headed back to DC for her friends birthday shindig at Club Cloud, which actually wasn't too fun for us because we arrived late, it was super crowded, and the people were kind of sketch.
September 3: another early morning of church and then hauling from DC to WT. I worked all day, but Victoria was a bum and didn't stick around for both shows.
September 4: finally rode again, spent a lot of time seriously considering a career change, so much so that I bought the wrong brand of oil for my car, and then headed down to Richmond with Nick for the night.
September 5: drove all the way from Richmond, to Dale City to drop off Nick, then all the way up to DC to finally burn my documentary onto DVD, look for jobs, and go to Taco Tuesday with Jackie, Fetch, and Talia.
September 6: Worked again at Fizz Media, actually headed out to a pretty fun shoot at a farm in Bluemont, then went to work the Chris Botti show at WT which I really enjoyed, and heard a Billie Holliday song which quite possibly describes this entire year for me.
September 7: Spent a good deal of time editing footage from the previous day at Fizz Media, then was offered part time there, which I gladly accepted. Then I drove home listening to Tears for Fears and did nothing that night, and it felt good.
September 8th: Had a terrific ride on Bocce, and then had Nick and Flora's day of fun because we went to the Festival at my church for dinner (yeah it sounds lame, but we had a great dinner), I finally saw Snakes on a Plane!, and we went to Katie and Vincent's get together. Overall that was fun, until I received some info which I'm still not sure how to comprehend.
September 9: I spent most of the day recovering from partying the night before, then worked the Hawaii show at Wolf Trap, the last official show of the season, le sigh. I have no idea if I'll be able to return there next season, but I can totally see why Cori calls it Never, Never Land, that place is addicting.
September 10: I hung around my place, went for a late ride, and then started to get the ball rolling for camping!
September 11: Did more job searching, received two calls for interviews actually, then went out the barn and rode Alex, and he was complete saint compared to the last time I hopped on him, which made me extremely happy.
September 12: Went to Fizz Media, finished two shoots, both of which I had a lot of fun with, and then hung out with Eric for a little while.
September 13: Worked at Fizz Media again, reserved a campsite for this weekend, whoo hoo! and then just kind of came home really.
So thats a run down of my life recently. One thing I must say though is that I really wish the sun would come back. For about the past two weeks I think we've only had about 2 clear days. I really hope its not like this over the weekend, since my plans are completely centered around the outdoors.
