The "Marriage Protection Amendment" [H.J.Res. 106] FAILED in the House of Representatives vote yesterday!!! This is the second attempt to write GLBT discrimination into the Constitution. The first attempt was the FMA (Federal Marriage Amendment) that failed in the Senate earlier this year.
See how your Rep voted here. And send a note either thanking or condemning them for their vote.
This is an important step, the vote was way too close for comfort, and had it been popular vote (rather than the 2/3 majority) the MPA would have passed... and for the first time in history our Constitution would be amended in order to deny rights to a segment of our population.
