My latest Facebook conversation:
V: "Quantum materiae materietur marmota monax si marmota monax materiam possit materiari?"
Translation: How much wood would a woodchuck chuck if a woodchuck could chuck wood? (Roughly. Actually, it's really "gather timber," but close enough.)
Me: "Professores meus mihi dicunt ille marmota monax circa libras septingentas (700 lbs.) materietur. ;) Where do you find these things?"
Translation: My experts tell me that a woodchuck could chuck about 700 lbs. (This is according to straightdope.com. Yes, I looked it up.)
V: "Catapultam habeo. Nisi pecuniam omnem mihi dabis, ad caput tuum saxum immane mittam."
Translation: I have a catapult. Unless you give to me all your money, I will savagely send a rock at your head.
Me: "Sed pauper sum, et scutum magnum porto. Aut nunc illud portabo. Si lagani tibi emam, tibi placitus eris?"
Translation: But I am poor, and carry a large shield. Or now I will. If I buy pancakes for you, will this please you?
...Good fun!
