Geotagging your photos

If you know me you know I'm crazy about photography and GPS/Mapping/Geocaching and the like. Now I found an easy way to tie in both. I've been a member of a Flickr group called GeoTagging for a while now but I had never actually practiced it. What is geotagging you say? You add tags in Flickr to your photos that include the latitude and longitude of where the photo is taken. This allows other people and services to look at that data and map out your photos. I had never done it before because it was a lot of work to go and find the coordinates and then make sure that the tag was written correctly. Not so anymore. I found a nifty little bookmarklet that allows you to easily geotag your photos using Google maps. You go to your photo on flickr you want to tag and click the bookmarklet, find the spot on the map, and presto it tags it and adds a link in the description to see the place on Google maps. Cool enough on it's own but I found another handy bookmarklet for a site called Mappr.com that will show you photos on a map based on where they were taken or by user name from Flickr. The bookmarklet allows you to add your photo to Mappr once you've tagged it with the other bookmarklet.
