...how the mighty have fallen!
I can't decide which is sadder: when a former child star's career goes in the toilet due to drug & alcohol abuse, or when his career continues to limp along on embarrassing, pathetic shows.
(Okay, so clearly, drug & alcohol addiction is much worse, but still...)
Today I stumbled upon a hideous show on Animal Planet - Pet Stars... I only caught the last contestant & her dog (or should that be the other way around, the contestant & his owner). [And I do mean stumbled... my cable provider changed a bunch of channels around, so I entered a channel thinking I was gonna get QVC {that's right, I'm not afraid to admit my guilty pleasure!}, and found Animal Planet instead... if only Law & Order had started yet, I wouldn't have been exposed to such a show!]
Basically, people bring their animals on the show to compete for a cash prize ($2500) by doing tricks for a panel of 3 judges, themselves presumably has-been actors. I only recognized only 1 of the 3, and couldn't quite place him, either. And who is the host of this sad excuse for a show? Mario Lopez, otherwise (& better known) as AC Slater of Saved By The Bell fame. So sad. He has to act like he is actually interested in what the animals are doing. Not that they were so bad, but really people, they made a half-hour show out of this, and he has to act like the things the animals do are terribly amazing. Which, from the recap, I could tell weren't that amazing.
And earlier this summer, I saw him hosting some dance show on MTV. The show wasn't so bad, but the hosts of those things tend to be pretty lame. And he was.
Ah, the career he can't quite give up, but somebody probably should tell him to quit & go find his dignity. This is no way to live!!
