...and I keep having to read it, or read about it, in my classes this semester:
In science one tries to tell people, in such a way as to be understood by everyone, something that no one ever knew before. But in poetry, it's the exact opposite. --Paul Dirac
Actually, I'm not even sure who Paul Dirac is, but I found this quote in my day planner and thought it was sort of nifty. So there you are.
For those of you NOT in the OKC metro area, I'd like to inform you that there is snow and ice all over the place. For those of you who are... take my advice and stay inside with a warm cup of hot cocoa today, if you haven't gone out already. I braved the elements, albeit a little late in order to avoid any traffic, this morning and headed for work. The highways were actually okay. The treacherous part of my journey was getting to them. After navigating the winding streets of the addition with relative success (meaning only a few short slides) I got to the stop sign that spits you out onto the main road. Well, I slid past the sign, anyway, right out onto the road. My brakes were rendered useless on the ice, as was any steering ability. So there I was, spinning around in circles on S.W. 15th street with a huge UPS truck barreling toward me. As slick as the roads were, I figured he wouldn't have any braking power either. To my amazement, my spin ended with the car sliding back across the street and into the addition again!! As strong as the urge was to head straight home, (I mean, I was already pointed in the right direction) I turned around and tentatively braved the stop-sign again, this time with more success. Only a little sliding, and no other cars on the road. After a couple of other shorter and not nearly as exciting sliding adventures, and having to turn around and get gas because I'd forgotten, I made it to the highway and the rest of my 30 mile journey was relatively uneventful. Between Yukon and Norman I think I passed 8 or so smashed cars in the median or on the side of the road!
Poor little Ty has been having the hardest time going out in all this snow too. Usually excited about the prospect of going out to do his thing, the past couple of days he's cowered and cringed the minute we ask him if he needs to go out!
Enough of my rambling...I need to get back to work =)
